All companies incorporated in Malaysia are required to have their accounts audited by an approved auditor, as stipulated by the Companies Act of 2016. However, certain companies may qualify for an audit exemption if they meet the following criteria:

  • Dormant or Inactive Companies

    These are companies that have not begun their principal business activities since incorporation or have ceased operations during the financial year in question.

  • Zero-Revenue Companies

    These companies do not generate any revenue in the financial year under review or in the two preceding financial years. Additionally, their total assets must not exceed RM300,000 in the current year and the previous two years.

  • Threshold-Qualified Companies

    Companies that report revenue not exceeding RM100,000 in the current year and the two prior years may qualify. Furthermore, their total assets must not exceed RM300,000 in the current and past two years, and they must have no more than five employees at the end of the current year and the previous two years.
